Limay River Floating Fly Fishing or Spinning HD

We organize float trips in rivers or lakes for up to 2 fishermen per boat. Our Cata-Raft, specially designed for navigation in mountain rivers, also are very stable to fish in lakes. Our Fishing Guides are also Rafting Guides, certified by the Coast Guard Authority. All our guides and assistants are English spoken. For the rivers, we typically float about 10 or 12 km during a full day trip. We fish from the boat while drifting and also stop many times to wade in the better places. Around midday, We will have a very good lunch cooked and served by the river, and continue fishing in the afternoon. At the end of the trip our assistants will be waiting for us with the trucks and the trailers to go back to the lodge. We provide the whole fishing tackle (Waders, shoes, rods, reels, lines, flies, etc) Cold and hot drinks are available during all the trip.

Techniques

– Fly-fishing: Using a special weighted line, “dressed” hooks that imitate insects, minnow, shrimp, are cast using various techniques. This undoubtedly requires some practice and patience, only to achieve making a good cast. However, fly-fishing has been popular around the world for a very long time and is becoming more so daily.

– Spinning :This technique involves casting artificial lures, like spoons or spinners, using an appropiate rod and reel. This technique is allowed in some rivers and on all the lakes. For fishing from the shore or from boats. We recommend using ultra-light equipment and lures, if possible, with single barbless hooks.

Limay River 

This is the most important river in the National Park, big water flowing out of the huge Nahuel Huapi from its eastern end about 17 km (11mi) from the city, winding through dry, rocky mesas spotted with pine forests and offering wonderful scenery and great weather. It is one of our strongest recommendations for fly-fishing, with countless opportunities for all skill levels, populated with mostly rainbow and brown trout, and some Patagonian perch. From November through March the dry fly possibilities abound, and during the last month of the season, in April, the amazing big trout migrate to the river from the lake. Near Bariloche there are five different sections on the river to choose from, each about 10 miles long. In the course of five days we can potentially go to a different section of the river every day and float about 10 miles each day without repeating fishing areas. The extremely clear water, beautiful scenery, and great fishing make this floating trip something truly unforgettable.
